This week’s Kidcaster is Irtaza, a 13-year-old from Rockford that has two big passions in life, weather and soccer! He’s not just interested in everyday weather though, his favorite is when thunderstorms come around, so you know him and the First Warn Weather Team had plenty to talk about!
Irtaza got his passion for weather from both experiencing thunderstorms as well as watching storm chasers on YouTube, his personal favorites being Reed Timmer and Freddy McKinney. He says that he watches sometimes for entertainment, but his favorite part about watching severe storms is understanding why they happen and why the clouds move the way they do as well as why they look the way they do. He says his favorite tornado footage to watch is the 2013 El Reno, Oklahoma tornado.
Most of our Kidcasters aren’t the biggest fan of storm chasing but Irtaza couldn’t be more different! Of course, with his love for severe storms and tornadoes he’s one who wants to dive right into the action! He says he would love to join both Meteorologist Joey Marino and Owen Szarley for a storm chase! He even shared a few of his personal photos of shelf clouds and other cloud formations he’s seen…
