PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Traffic remained relatively normal during the first weekday commute of Portland’s I-5 southbound shutdown, but transportation officials are warning Tuesday could provide a bigger test.
ODOT said that overall traffic volumes on Monday morning were “fairly average”, with only some pockets of congestion near Lombard Street on I-5 and on the Fremont Bridge.

That follows a measurable drop in traffic over the weekend. ODOT said preliminary data from Saturday showed traffic volumes on I-405, I-205, I-84 and I-5 were about 10% lower compared with the previous four Saturdays.
