CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Friends, family and colleagues gathered at the Gaillard Center to remember renowned attorney Joe Rice, whose sudden passing on Sept. 3 has left a void in South Carolina’s legal community.
Rice built a career representing what he often called the “underdogs of the world,” taking on powerful industries in landmark civil cases involving tobacco companies and victims of opioid abuse. But those who knew him best said his greatest strength was his authenticity.
