JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 24-year-old Jacksonville man charged with two counts of DUI manslaughter in connection with a crash that killed a local teacher and his 1-year-old son wanted to have key evidence thrown out of court — arguing detectives illegally obtained his blood test results and misled a judge to secure a search warrant.
The judge acknowledged that there wasn’t a lot of probable cause for the search, but there was enough so the judge denied the motion.

On the night of May 16, 2025, Mitchell Patch and his infant son, Everett, were struck and killed on Baymeadows Road as they were leaving Wicked Barley, a local brewing company.
