Homeless Coalition of Polk County faces major housing funding cut

LAKELAND, Fla. — Funding for one of the Homeless Coalition of Polk County’s key housing programs is set to end this month.

The Self-Sufficiency pilot program has helped families with school-aged children overcome homelessness since 2024.

Mother of five Brittany Preo said she went through the program after she and her children experienced homelessness because of escaping a domestic violence situation.
