AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – A special meeting was held today with the City of Amarillo City Council and staff. The meeting covered the budget, how property tax is used in the budget, and what ceiling should be set for the upcoming year.
“As you know, there’s a complicated form that’s used to fill that out. And so I think we’ve got some clarity on that. So our job today was to figure out what the maximum tax rate we would not exceed. That’s what happened in today’s meeting,” explained Councilmember Place 4 Les Simpson.
During the special meeting, a motion was passed that the ceiling for the tax rate would not exceed the amount that was seen last year…
