One look at WalletHub’s recent list of “America’s happiest states” and your average person might reasonably conclude that they would stand a much better chance of being happy if they were to move to, say, New Jersey — rated as the second-happiest state —than they would living in some statistically unhappy place like New Orleans, with Louisiana ranked next to dead last on the happiness scale.
Meanwhile, I’ve lived and worked (*phew*) in something like 10 different states, and I’ve never lived anyplace where the people you encounter and have to deal with in daily life were anywhere near as much fun to be around and live among as right here…
