A man was arrested early Monday morning for burglary after attempting to flee from police and hiding in a slough near Golden Gardens Park.
At 12:13 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, a resident arrived home to an address on East Irwin Way and found a man standing in his garage. The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Brian Rogers of Cottage Grove, slammed the garage door and ran, but the resident chased him down and tackled him. The two tussled, and Rogers’ shirt came off during the fight. Rogers then got away while the resident called 911.
Officers arrived and found Rogers hiding in the water of the slough. Police told him he was under arrest, but he continued to hide and eventually moved into thick brush on the bank. He was repeatedly told he was under arrest, but returned to the water and ran about a quarter-mile before stopping. He laid down on the south bank and was taken into custody…
