1 injured after car crashes through wall of South Whitehall credit union

S. WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. – Police are investigating what caused a car to crash through the wall of a building Tuesday afternoon.

At around 2:06 p.m., South Whitehall Police and the Greenawalds Fire Department responded to the Lehigh Valley Educators Credit Union on Hamilton Boulevard in South Whitehall Township after a vehicle drove through the building’s wall.

Police say the rescue assignment was requested after officers on scene confirmed that one occupant was trapped inside the vehicle. Firefighters opened a wall into an adjacent office area and removed the driver’s side door. The occupant was safely extracted and transferred to EMS personnel for medical evaluation, according to authorities.

Responding crews assessed the structure and determined there was no significant compromise to the building’s integrity, according to a news release from Cetronia Volunteer Fire Department. As a precaution, people in the building were evacuated and power to the structure was secured…
