Norwegian Cruise Line Honors Whitney Houston with New Tribute Show Aboard Upcoming Ship
Whitney Houston’s timeless ballad “I Will Always Love You” continues to resonate with fans worldwide, and Norwegian Cruise Line is set to celebrate her extraordinary legacy in a special way. On September 15, 2026, the cruise line announced its new headlining production show, “Whitney: A Celebration of Whitney Houston,” which will debut aboard their newest vessel, the Norwegian Aura, ahead of its inaugural European Mediterranean sailing in May 2027.
This 45-minute tribute, developed in partnership with Primary Wave Music and The Estate of Whitney E. Houston, showcases Houston’s greatest hits alongside the compelling story of her remarkable life and career. With over 220 million records sold globally, six Grammy Awards, and seven consecutive No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, Houston remains one of the most iconic figures in music history despite her untimely passing in 2012.
The show will take place in the Norwegian Aura’s three-story Aura Theatre & Club, combining innovative stagecraft with fresh, contemporary renditions of Houston’s classics. Passengers can look forward to hearing beloved songs such as “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” and “It’s Not Right, But It’s OK,” in addition to the legendary “I Will Always Love You.”
Pat Houston, executor of Whitney’s estate and president of the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation, emphasized the personal significance of the tribute for fans: “Whitney enjoyed cruises. Her fans and supporters will have a nostalgic experience enjoying the extraordinary artistry and live music of Whitney Houston, performed by world-class musicians while sailing on the high seas.”
The Norwegian Aura is the fifth Prima-class ship in Norwegian Cruise Line’s fleet. It continues a tradition of successful tribute shows on sister ships, such as “Revolution: A Celebration of Prince” on the Norwegian Aqua and “Rocket Man: A Celebration of Elton John” on the Norwegian Luna. With “Whitney: A Celebration of Whitney Houston,” the cruise line adds another vibrant musical experience for guests to enjoy on their voyages.
