HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Hopkinsville Police Chief Jason Newby has announced that he is resigning from his position and will serve his last day on Oct. 11.
During a Facebook Live on Sept. 15, Newby confirmed this news and addressed rumors that he was being forced out or fired. He said, “I received a good opportunity to take the next step up to further my career. Sorry to disappoint all you haters that wish me ill, but this is a good thing for me.”
According to Newby, no replacement for the position has been chosen at this time. With the general election taking place in November, it will be up to the newly elected Mayor of Hopkinsville to choose a new chief of police. An interim may be selected in the meantime…
