Search by deputies, FBI connected to woman’s 2018 disappearance

LEONIDAS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities conducted a search near Mendon Tuesday linked to the investigation into the disappearance of a woman in 2018.

In a release, the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office said it was “following up on information” that “may have a possible connection” to Brittany Shank.

Shank, 23, vanished the night of Nov. 30, 2018, after crashing along Fawn River Road east of Sturgis. She has never been found and no charges ever issued.

The sheriff’s office said it was working with the FBI to search in Leonidas Township, which is between Mendon and Athens.
