SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Rock and roll icon Robert Plant has been added as a late addition to this year’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass lineup. The legendary Led Zeppelin frontman will be performing with his roots music band, Saving Grace, featuring vocalist Suzi Dian.
“One more thing. After much speculation, we are thrilled to confirm that Robert Plant with Saving Grace and Suzi Dian will be joining us this year,” the festival announced in an Instagram post Tuesday. “We think you’ll be happy about this.”

Plant and his band will be unveiled as part of the festival’s full schedule, which is set to drop on Sept. 22. With Plant and Saving Grace already scheduled to appear at San Francisco’s Orpheum Theatre on Oct. 2, there had been speculation about the 78-year-old rock legend joining the Hardly Strictly lineup.
Plant joins this year’s Hardly Strictly lineup following the cancellation of Alison Krauss, his frequent and long-time collaborator. The rock and roll heavyweight who has carved out an eclectic post-Zeppelin career, joins a star-studded lineup that also includes Emmylou Harris, My Morning Jacket, Steve Earle, and Mavis Staples, among others.
Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, which is now in its 25th year, runs Friday, Oct. 2 through Sunday, Oct. 4 at Hellman Hollow and Lindley & Marx meadows in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park…
