SAN ANTONIO – A teenager was shot and killed while police were responding to a call about suspicious activity in a West Side neighborhood.
- Phoenix Blowe, a 17-year-old, was shot and killed in the 1400 block of Melissa Sue just after midnight on Sept. 9, 2026, while officers were in the area responding to a burglary call nearby. He was found with a gunshot wound to the chest and died at a local hospital.
- The incident occurred while police were responding to reports of someone prowling the West Side neighborhood. Officers heard gunshots and a car alarm, then found Phoenix lying in the street, with multiple individuals seen fleeing the area.
- Investigators discovered that Phoenix was wearing a ski mask, and a 30-round Glock magazine was found beside him. Friends told police they left him behind after learning he was apparently planning to break into vehicles.
- Residents described hearing car alarms, gunshots, and helicopters, expressing fear and concern that violence had come dangerously close to their homes. Some witnesses saw people leaving the area before police arrivals.
- The investigation remains active, with no suspects identified yet. Police are urging anyone in the area who may have witnessed the incident or has video footage to contact the SAPD Homicide Unit.
