If you are the type of person who cares deeply about your skin, you might want to beware of spending a lot of quality time in St. Louis as new data has revealed that it’s one of the worst cities in America for something known as skin stress.
I know this will come as a shock to those who know me, but I’m not known for having great skin. That’s not exactly breaking news which makes me an odd messenger for a new study that’s just been shared by Water Filter Guru (epic website name, by the way). They created a Skin Stress Index which factors in UV exposure, air quality, acne breakouts, skin irritation, water problems and treatment availability.
Based on all of those metrics, St. Louis is ranked 7th in America for having the worst skin stress
St. Louis scored especially poor when it comes to air quality and UV exposure. The air quality issues for the St. Louis area are well-known, so that was not a surprise. My 2nd grade-level mind thought the pollution in St. Louis might block some of the UV rays, but that’s why I’m on the radio and not a scientist.
For reference, Chicago is 63rd in America for skin stress. That’s right, St. Louis, you’re harder on skin than the windy city. Who would have guessed?…
