ALBANY — Mayor Dorcey Applyrs has named a close political ally with limited legal experience as the city’s top lawyer.
Applyrs announced Tuesday that she had selected John Reilly Jr., who led her transition and had served as the city’s policy director, as Albany’s corporation counsel. He succeeds Robert Magee, who served in several positions in city government since 2015, including nearly a decade in the Law Department, which he led since January 2025.
