The Greene County Sheriff’s Office did not report dozens of traffic stops it made during its June 23 immigration raids to a public statewide database, in apparent violation of state law.
In data it sent to the Virginia State Police, the sheriff’s office detailed 27 traffic stops between 4:50am and 1:30pm that day, out of 32 in all.
But the sheriff’s internal call detail reports, obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request and shared with C-VILLE, reveal that deputies actually pulled over 67 drivers during that period.
