Mayor William Cogswell announced Tuesday that Charleston secured funding to retime every traffic signal in West Ashley after a similar initiative was completed in another area of the city.
City officials claim the retiming improved traffic flow along the Calhoun Corridor by approximately 25%. They now hope to replicate those improvements in West Ashley, a part of the city that frequently sees standstill traffic during rush hour.
“It all comes down to the same goal: making our roads work better for the people who use them every day,” Cogswell said. “We’re cutting through red tape with our state and regional partners to get it done.”…
