Huntersville man declines town offer to buy home for future downtown parking deck

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The owner of a downtown Huntersville home is holding out for more money as the town is trying to build a parking deck on the property.

On Tuesday night, town commissioners approved a resolution to acquire of a 0.7-acre lot on North Maxwell Avenue. But 81-year-old Ernie Lee hasn’t seen a price he likes yet, knowing he’s in the middle of a quickly transforming area.

Town officials are looking to build a parking deck across the street from Veterans Park, and near Huntersville Town Hall the planned Red Line station.
