CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board elected a new chairperson during its formal session Tuesday.
During the board meeting, both sitting Chair Chris Lanier and Carol Berry were nominated for the position by fellow board members. Berry won the 4-3 vote with board members Jacqueline Burton, Kent Griffy, Darryl Anderson, and Berry voting in her favor. Board members Christina Trawinski, Kacie Bryant and Lanier voted in his favor.
For the vice chair nomination, Griffy was nominated for the position but declined. “I would like to say I appreciate that, but I will not accept that nomination at this time,” he said. Instead he nominated Bryant, the sitting vice chair, and she won the position without opposition. School Board attorney Mark Nolan said those positions will take effect next month.
The board then approved adding Berry, as the newly elected chair, as a signer on all district accounts…
