CEDAR RAPIDS — Data center developers will no longer be allowed to send certain recyclable materials to the Linn County landfill, per a new countywide resolution.
The Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency board approved that resolution Tuesday to offset the significant amount of cardboard, clean wood and other divertible materials being sent to the landfill from the two data center sites under construction in southwest Cedar Rapids.
Effective immediately, data centers — along with all other commercial or demolition sites — will be required to sort their debris before bringing it to the landfill at 1954 County Home Road in rural Marion…
