CLARENDON, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – As we previously reported, the Panhandle has been facing a water issue.
With the increase in water issues being seen in the Panhandle, the Greenbelt Municipal and Industrial Water Authority held a meeting covering water in the city, and the next steps are.
MyHighPlains.com asked the General Manager, Bobbie Kidd, along with other members of Greenbelt, to talk following the meeting. They all declined, but we were able to talk with Childress resident Grace Jones.
City of Childress to distribute bottled water Wednesday
“We farm and ranch, and our water is pretty clear. We’re actually on the Red River Authority, 10 miles west of Childress. But my children go to school in Childress, and right now they’re not allowed to use the water to wash their hands inside the schools. A lot of restaurants are closed down. A lot of people on Facebook and different social media outlets are showing pictures of their water, of their kids getting in bath water. That’s yellow,” added Jones. “Dirt-filled water coming out of their faucets even after they boil once or twice. It’s still discolored and has a bad smell to it. That’s kind of what’s going on in children’s right now.”…
