WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A mother said she is suing the District of Columbia and a former teacher’s aide who punished her nonverbal autistic son with hot sauce, seeking $1.5 mllion in damages.
A teacher at Nalle Elementary School witnessed educational aide Imani Karin Davis wearing a glove while dipping her finger in hot sauce. She put her finger in a 9-year-old student’s mouth. When asked why she did it, she replied, “He deserved it.”
Davis pleaded guilty to assault charges in March, and was sentenced to five months of probation and community service. Davis no longer an employee of the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS).
