SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Sora Vigorito was just three years old when she was swept away to Auschwitz with her twin sister in 1944. She is one of the youngest known survivors of Nazi Doctor Josef Mengele’s experiments on twins.
Today, she stood before an audience at the University of Utah and unwrapped her history. She revealed her story of survival and shared the raw experience of watching her sister die before her eyes in captivity.
“I am going to walk you through hell, through the darkness, and then I am going to show you how to get to the light,” Vigorito said when she took the podium at the University of Utah.
‘Angel of Death’
Dr. Josef Mengele, a Nazi doctor who became known as the “Angel of Death” in Auschwitz, was one of the villains in Vigorito’s story. According to the Candles Holocaust Museum, Mengele would decide which of the prisoners would be retained as test subjects, and which would be sent directly to the gas chambers…
