ONEONTA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — An investigation into a counterfeit $50 bill in the town of Oneonta led to the arrest of a Troy man on Monday.
Investigators were dispatched to the Dunkin Donuts on State Route 23 in the Otsego County town of Oneonta at approximately 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14. Witnesses say that a driver — later learned to be 29-year-old Kashawn Miller, of Troy — attempted to pay for a drive-thru order with a counterfeit $50 bill. After an employee questioned the authenticity of the bill — shown above and below — Miller drove away without any of his items.
State police say the subsequent investigation was able to determine Miller’s car, the vehicle’s license plate number and his description.
Several hours later, Miller was found by two troopers on Main Street in the town of Schenevus, when the troopers noticed Miller speeding in a school zone. Troopers initiated a traffic stop, and while they were investigating, noticed that Miller was impaired. Miller failed a subsequent field sobriety test and was taken into custody…
