FBI, Muscogee County officials report drop in violent crime

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – Local officials highlighted decreases in violent crime at home a day after FBI Director Kash Patel told lawmakers his bureau and law enforcement partners have achieved what he called the “most prolific run of crime reduction in U.S. history.”

State and federal agencies credit their on-the-ground partnerships with local law enforcement for driving down numbers over the past year.

Muscogee County Sheriff Greg Countryman said working with federal agents for the past five years has made a difference and residents are now able to feel safe.

“If our local partners did not work with federal authorities it would be like fighting a fight with one only one hand,” Countryman said…
