Man arraigned for alleged fentanyl trafficking in San Joaquin County

(FOX40.COM) — A man had his first day in court on Wednesday after officers found enough fentanyl in his car to “cause the lethal overdose of millions of people,” the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office said.

The case began when officers pulled over 33-year-old Hector Nunez’s car at the Interstate 5 and Thornton Road exit near Thornton. Officers searched his vehicle and found “23 bricks of powdered fentanyl,” which weighed more than 50 pounds in total, the district attorney’s office said in a news release.

Investigators later discovered that Nunez had been traveling from Riverside County, California, and planned to transport the illegal cargo to Seattle, Washington…
