Bacteria living in coastal waters reported in SC, doctor explains risks

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – Three cases of a potentially deadly bacterium found in coastal waters and in seafood have been reported in South Carolina.

The South Carolina Department of Public Health told WMBF News that the three cases of Vibrio vulnificus are within the year. They also said they are aware of one related death.

Deaths from Vibrio are not required to be reported, according to the SCDPH, so the actual number of deaths is unknown…
