STUART, Fla. (CBS12) — A man was hospitalized with severe burns following a boat fire in Stuart on Wednesday.
According to Martin County Fire Rescue, firefighters responded at about 9:30 a.m. to a boat fire near Northwest Howard Creek Lane. An investigation revealed that the man was working on the boat’s engine when fuel in the bilge area flashed, burning him.
The man was taken to the hospital with traumatic injuries and burns to his arms. The State Watch Office was notified after approximately 5 gallons of gasoline entered the water during the incident. MCFR’s Hazardous Materials team also responded to assess the spill…
