A Water Street property owner told the Woonsocket City Council on Monday, September 14, 2026 that a neighboring business paved roughly 10,000 square feet, built a retaining wall and erected a staircase without permits close to the Blackstone River, and asked why the city has not required the work removed, according to the Woonsocket City Council’s published meeting recording.
The speaker, who said she owns a 42,000-square-foot building dating to 1896 with addresses on both Water Street and Canal Street, used the public comment period to press the question.
