Intense heat, staff workload push Wake town to reduce concert series nights

Wake Forest will scale back its Friday Night on White concert series from six events to four events in April, May, September and October 2027.

Town staff are seeking sponsors for next year’s series , so the Wake Forest Board of Commissioners resolved to make a decision at Tuesday night’s meeting. It unanimously accepted town staff recommendations to cut the number of concerts.

Since 2016, Wake Forest has hosted concerts on White Street every second Friday evening from April to September. Each brings around 9,000 people downtown. In June, some businesses began closing during the concert and said the event brought more safety issues than sales.
