The Town of Castle Rock outlawed the retail sale of kratom products Tuesday after pushback from residents who cited the medicinal benefits they have experienced and what they viewed as government overreach into the behavior of responsible adults.
The ordinance is part of an update to the town’s municipal criminal code. Staff said many provisions in the code, first adopted in 1968, are now obsolete or require revisions to meet current standards.
The provision that received the most public scrutiny was the town’s effort to prohibit the sale of kratom products. The measure does not prohibit the use of kratom, only the retail sale of kratom products…
