Coquille woman serving life sentence dies at Coffee Creek prison

WILSONVILLE, Ore. — An Oregon Department of Corrections adult in custody died Tuesday morning at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville, the agency said.

DOC said Patti Sue Fields, formerly of Coquille, died the morning of Sept. 16, 2026, and passed away at the facility. As with all in-custody deaths, the Oregon State Police have been notified, and the medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

Fields entered DOC custody on Dec. 13, 2011, from Coos County with a life sentence without the possibility of parole. She was 64 years old…
