Investigation into Whittier dock fire begins

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A fire that burned at a Whittier dock for over 12 hours Monday is now being investigated to find a cause to the blaze that torched roughly 70% of the wood decking on the town’s new cruise ship terminal.

Part of the investigation by the U.S. Coast Guard is to determine how much pollution was put out by the fire and the ensuing response by multiple agencies to put it out.

There were no reported injuries from the massive blaze, which started around 11 a.m. Monday and quickly spread to a tour boat that was moored at the pier…
