New details of fatal Seldovia plane crash released by investigators

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The preliminary report on the plane crash that killed four people near Seldovia last month was released Wednesday by the National Transportation Safety Board.

On Aug. 26, the Piper PA-24 flying to Seldovia from Anchorage’s Merrill Field Airport crashed into the water near Seldovia and was then submerged.

The four people killed were Eric Middlebrook, 68, Ronald Schmidt, 65, Lance Schmidt, 20, and Daniel Simons, 82. State troopers reported that all three passengers were from California, while Middlebrook, the pilot, was from Alaska…
