PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Independent gubernatorial candidate Ken Block on Wednesday rolled out what he is calling his “Cost of Living Relief Plan,” a set of five proposals he argues will help address voters’ complaints about affordability.
“Rhode Island government can’t fix every cause of the affordability crisis,” Block said in a statement. “But it can stop adding unnecessary and regressive costs to the things people need every day. Make the costs visible. Make government justify them. Make them fair. And get the costs down.”
Affordability has been a constant topic in political campaigns this year. A poll released last month by the UNH Survey Center found 85% of Rhode Islanders say their cost of living has risen over the past year, with groceries, gasoline and electricity/energy the biggest pain points…
