SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A former teacher within the Schenectady City School District was found guilty of endangering one of her students. Patti Tashman, 69, was a special education teacher assigned to teach a self-contained kindergarten classroom at Van Corlaer Elementary School.
The Schenectady County District Attorney’s Office said that on March 24, a 6-year-old child in Tashman’s classroom was having a behavioral issue. An eyewitness said she dragged the child by his ankle out of the classroom and into an adjoining vestibule area.

In the vestibule, a school security camera captured Tashman physically subdue the boy and then kick or stomp him several times while he was on the floor. Another witness reported seeing the child crying around that time.
Two days later, school administrators became aware of what happened and contacted the boy’s mother. She was shown the security video on April 1, and then took pictures of bruising near her son’s hip and gave the pictures to Schenectady police.
