Writing for The Michigan Daily throughout my college years was one of the greatest privileges I had at the University of Michigan. So it’s hard to capture the dismay I felt at The Daily’s seemingly random investigation of Acts2 Network — whose only relevance to the University is a registered student organization known as Anchor Fellowship, which The Daily itself admits has no connection to the spiritual abuse allegations they’ve reported.
My experience with Anchor College Church couldn’t be more different than the picture the article paints of A2N. Throughout my time there, I found the community at Anchor to be filled with incredibly genuine, kind people who had a big heart for this campus and its students.
I experienced many concrete acts of care from the people at Anchor. Mentors would invite us into their homes for home-cooked dinner and study hall during finals season. They would plan legendary road trips for fall break, and students would even go out of their way to schedule coffee chats with newcomers, so no one felt like a stranger for long…
