Former child actor Bobb’e J. Thompson has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to possessing a firearm as a felon. Thompson, 30, who gained fame for his role as Stanley on the Disney Channel’s That’s So Raven, was arrested following a traffic stop in Iowa where he was driving 104 mph in a 70 mph zone.
During the stop in Cerro Gordo County last September, law enforcement officers discovered dispensary-purchased marijuana and a loaded .40-caliber handgun in Thompson’s backpack. The firearm, which had a 15-round magazine plus a round chambered, was reported stolen from a vehicle in his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri. In addition to his prison sentence, Thompson will serve three years of supervised release.
The sentencing took place in Sioux City before U.S. District Court Judge Leonard T.
Strand on April 28. Thompson is currently in custody awaiting transfer to a federal prison facility.
Under federal guidelines, there is no parole.
Authorities noted that during the traffic stop, Thompson and a female passenger were seen switching seats, and the officer detected the smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Subsequent searches revealed multiple bags of marijuana and the stolen handgun.
Thompson’s criminal record includes previous convictions for battery causing serious bodily injury and assault with force in 2020, as well as a 2022 conviction for prohibited firearm possession.
