A New Jersey man who died in prison two decades ago has been identified as the suspect in a 44-year-old East Orange murder, using DNA technology that didn’t exist when the killing happened.
The New Jersey State Police, working with the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, said Larry Burney, an East Orange resident, was the suspect in the 1982 killing of William Jenkins, also of East Orange.
