The Sept. 8 meeting of the Lehigh Township Board of Supervisors confirmed how applications for data centers will be handled if there is ever an attempt to bring one to the township. It was also the first meeting at which the new procedures for public comment were followed, requiring anyone who wished to speak to first sign in and wait to be recognized by the chairman. Those in attendance were reminded to silence their electronic devices.
Vice-Chairman Gerald Pritchard ran the meeting in the absence of Chairman Michael Jones. Supervisor David Hess was also absent. Township Manager Alice Rehrig gave an update on the work being done on the 2027 budget, stating that she has been incorporating all of the board’s ideas from the previous meetings. These include waste stations at all township parks and the addition of Starlink and tandem internet access for township buildings. Applications for grants for a new police car and new bucket truck are due by the end of September.
M & U International requested an extension of time for plan recording for their project at 1089 Riverview Drive, explaining that storm water issues are making it difficult to meet their existing deadline of Sept. 30. An extension was granted until March 31, 2027. At the previous meeting, the board had denied an extension of time for conditional use approval to BWC Hokendauqua Creek LLC, and they were asked to reconsider. The board voted 2-1 to grant an extension until Dec. 31, with board member Cynthia Miller casting the opposing vote. The Riverview Drive major subdivision plan was granted an extension of time for plan approval until Jan. 31, 2027, due to changes needed to connect their sewer system to the public system…
