‘It’s truly emotional’: St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church to unveil historical marker and monument

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church is set to unveil a historical marker and monument sign to honor the congregation and its history.

Constructed in 1895, St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church is one of the oldest surviving Black Baptist church buildings in Charleston and one of the oldest sacred spaces on the Upper Peninsula. This also marks the first African American church in the North Central area to be awarded a historical marker.
