The Paladins and Bulldogs meet in an interesting (and big) showdown on Saturday night.
One of the most fun games of the entire FCS slate this weekend will go down on Saturday in Greenville, South Carolina and yet it may not be registering on a lot of radars for the casual fans. The top HBCU team in the country, SC State, rolls in for a date with Furman and, for anyone who follows closely, they know this is as good of a matchup we’ll see in Week 3 and one that might end up having a lot of meaning by season’s end. The Bulldogs and the Paladins are set for a throwdown that will tell us a lot about both teams.
South Carolina State is the cream of the crop when it comes to HBCU ball and have been well before Chennis Berry’s head coaching tenure began in 2024 . Berry’s team won the Celebration Bowl last season in epic fashion, taking down Prairie View A&M in four overtimes. That was the program’s second HBCU national championship since 2021 and, if the early goings of this season are any indication, they might be in line for another when all is said and done this fall…
