Just recently, a traffic stop in Kentwood turned up over two pounds of cocaine, and a separate Kent County investigation traced a distribution network into Muskegon, seizing multiple firearms and suspected fentanyl.
What Authorities Seized During the Wyoming Raid
Now, a months-long investigation by the Kent Area Narcotics Enforcement Team (KANET) has led to one of the largest local seizures we’ve seen in a while.
After executing two search warrants in Wyoming in late August, investigators uncovered a huge stash of drugs, heavy firepower, and high-value property:
- 11 pounds of cocaine (roughly 5 kilograms)
- $53,000 in cash, a Rolex watch, and a newer pickup truck
- An AK-style rifle with a drum magazine, an AR pistol, three handguns, and ammunition
Two people were arrested and are now facing multiple felony charges.
A Rising Trend of Cocaine and Fentanyl in Kent County
Beyond the sheer numbers, this operation highlights a trend local authorities have been tracking closely.
The Kent County Sheriff’s Office noted says that cocaine is becoming increasingly common across our area, and officers continue to see fentanyl showing up right alongside it.
