AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Amarillo police are warning families about what they describe as a concerning increase in sextortion cases over the past two years.
Police said the crimes often begin with a message on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat or another social-media platform. The conversation may then move to private messages, where a victim is persuaded to send a nude image.
