CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA — When Cedar Rapids residents temporarily lost access to SNAP benefits during the government shutdown earlier this year, Nikki and Amber Lynn stepped in to help feed people facing food insecurity. Now, after a string of setbacks, the co-owners of Bread and Buttered Bakery are asking the community that once rallied around them to do it again.
Through a food pantry effort, the business was able to feed countless Cedar Rapids residents in need, even as the owners dealt with personal struggles of their own.
Last December, the Lynns lost their home in a house fire and are still working to rebuild. They said they received an abundance of support from the community at the time…
