A jackknifed 18-wheeler has shut down a major highway near San Antonio. According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the crash happened on Interstate 35 near Loop 1604. The Von Ormy Police Department say the crash happened just before 10 a.m. on Friday, September 18.
“The 18-wheeler, which was loaded with car parts, jackknifed on the highway. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. Our Von Ormy Police Traffic Safety Officers responded along with Bexar County Fire to assist with the scene and traffic control. IH-35 South is completely shut down at this time. All southbound traffic is being forced onto the frontage road while crews work the crash,” a social post from the Von Ormy Police Department read.
Traffic monitoring site SigAlert reports cars in the area moving as slow as 1 mph with traffic backed up to Luckey Road. The crash happened as storms began rolling into the San Antonio. However, it’s unclear what led to the crash. If you’re headed to this area, TxDOT warns to find an alternative route or give yourself planning of time with stopped traffic being reported. TxDOT cameras show a line of cars stuck in traffic along the Southwest Side.
