Thursday was yet another record-warm day in Springfield, Joplin, West Plains, and Harrison. We’re down to the final stretch of heat today through the weekend before some cooler weather and a chance of rain return early next week. The first day of fall may actually end up feeling like fall!
Before it gets cooler, it’s going to get hotter. Temperatures today will rise to the upper 90s and low 100s. We’ll find a similar spread on Saturday with a breezy southwest wind.
All eyes are locked on Sunday, but Sunday itself won’t be a cool day, with highs still in the mid-90s. The cold front on Sunday will blow through late Sunday afternoon. As it drops south through the Ozarks, the chance of rain will climb overnight into Monday morning.
Rainfall amounts won’t be particularly heavy, with many spots seeing less than 0.50″. This will be a scattered rain event, so not everywhere is guaranteed to see rain. Rain will linger Monday before winding down in the afternoon.
Temperatures Monday will feel more like fall under a cloudier sky. Highs will range from the upper 70s to low 80s paired with a north breeze around 10 mph.
