Wichita school board selects new member to fill vacant board seat

Wichita USD 259 school board members have selected a new member to replace Ngoc Vuong, who resigned in June.

Brock Booker, 37, was chosen over Allysa Hupko during a board appointment process Friday that allowed the two candidates to answer questions posed by board members.

After the questions and answers, the six standing board members voted on who they wanted to succeed Vuong, who left for a job out of state.

An initial vote ended in a tie when Amy Jensen, Sheila Kinnard and Diane Albert voted for Booker and Julie Hedrick, Amy Warren and Stan Reeser voted for Hupko…
