BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Instead of cake and candles, a Bakersfield mother is honoring the birthday of her son — who died in a horrific accident several years ago — by giving back to the community.
Turning pain into passion may be a cliche for some, but it’s very real for Josie Rosel, who helps people in need as a way to remember her 13-year-old son, Alejandro Vargas Jr., who was tragically killed in 2019.
“His best friend calls me, and tells me that they were crossing the street and Alejandro got hit by a pickup truck,” Rosel said. “I told him, stop lying. That is not a joke. Don’t play like that with me and he goes mom, ‘it’s not a joke. It’s not a joke, it’s not a joke.'”…
